In the terrible fight at the fort de Vaux, Private René Cottrel of the 298th Infanteryregiment was killed by the ennemy. He was a first time injured at the battle of the Marne and stayed blind fort several weeks. After his recovering he returned to the front and was again injured. As a liason agent exploded an obus before him and more dan 40 impacts of the obus were found on his bicycle.
René Cotytrel was born the 18th July 1885 in Saint-Ouen (Seine). As cyclist he was specialised in premium races, but he tryed all sorts of reces, such as the Tour de France in 1914.
